Rehabilitative Services

Pleasant Ridge Manor provides physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation services. Physical and occupational therapy services are provided by Alliance Rehab, a team of licensed or certified therapists committed to enhancing the quality of life by reshaping lost abilities and teaching new skills.


Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists provide treatment to improve mobility, decrease pain, and improve strength and endurance, related to a wide variety of diagnoses. Residents are helped in regaining their prior level of functioning for optimal independence in returning home or in the nursing home setting.

Treatment is individualized and may include:

 

 

  • Mobility and transfer training
  • Ambulation with or without assistive devices
  • Training in donning, use of orthotics and prosthetics
  • Moist heat treatments
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Massage
  • Strength and endurance training
  • Stretching program to improve range of motion
  • Balance and coordination activities

 

 

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help residents who need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to be as independent as possible.

Treatment may include:

 

 

  • Daily living skills training (bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding)
  • Exercise (active range of motion exercises, progressive restrictive exercises, gross/fine motor coordination, dexterity training)
  • Static/dynamic splinting
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Environmental adaptations
  • Visual/perceptual compensation techniques
  • Cognitive retraining
  • Socialization skills building

 

 

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy services are provided by Potoker/Hoehn Speech Pathology, experts in the field of speech rehabilitation.

Treatment may include:

 

 

  • Cognitive functioning (orientation, judgment and problem solving)
  • Swallowing disorders (chewing difficulties, coughing, choking during meals, aspiration)
  • Language (understanding what is being communicated, translating thoughts into words)
  • Speech and voice (treating dysarthria by strengthening oral musculature, improving slurred speech)

 

 

The rehabilitation team works with the entire Pleasant Ridge Manor staff to assure that each resident has the opportunity to reach their highest level of independence. Residents who are able to return home are provided home evaluations, for assistance in assuring that any adaptations and accommodations are made that will help assure that their return home is successful.

 

 

Accelerated Care Plus

 

Pleasant Ridge Manor East and West is participating in the clinical rollout of the Accelerated Care Plus (ACP) Advanced Modality Program.  The ACP Program is a physical agent modality based set of treatment protocols and state-of the-art equipment designed to specifically benefit our geriatric population.
