It's Time For Gardens!
As part of their community service hours, this group (which is actually larger than it appears in these photos) started vegetable plants from seeds. The seedlings were placed in the earth last night by a handful of the cub scouts, their leaders & parents. They received a bit of education about how the seeds start, how they grow, what they need to flourish, and what we do with them as the vegetables appear and begin to ripen. After they were done, our Director of Activities & Volunteer Services presented each scout with the Pleasant Ridge Manor patch that they earned this year. We look forward to their visits again this year and most especially, we look forward to watching the garden grow and then to preparing amazing dishes with our residents!
